A True Friend

I know we all enjoy a friend
Someone who really cares;
Someone who helps along the way
Our joys and sorrows shares.

Not just a friend when skies are
     blue
Or when the sun doth shine;
But when the rain and storms come
     down
They're near with love sublime.

There's nothing like the friend
     that's true
Who never tears you down;
But one that you can cling fast
     to,
With love-ties that are bound.

When others, who were friends you
     thought
Have left you all alone
The true friend comes and helps
     you out--
Comforts every cry and moan.

The one who says a friendly word
To encourage along the way;
That does a favor now and then,
It's more than money can pay.

What's worth more than a friend
     so kind
So loving, and so true?
Nothing on earth can "fill the
     bill"
I'm glad that friend is you!
