* Created, authored, and SIGOP'd LAMsub (Loving Alternatives SubBoard) national message echo SIG on both WWIV and TAG National BBS (Computer Bulletin Board Systems) Networks, the first such SIG to have a direct tie-in to a national adult lifestyles magazine.

The Paddler , monthly publication of The Carolina Canoe Club, Durham, NC.  Wrote a series of first-hand trip reports about having canoed various sections of different North Carolina flat-water rivers, such as the Neuse, the Deep, the Roanoke, etc. Broke the story nationally in The Paddler about the oldest living trees (some bald cypress) east of the Mississippi being discovered on the Black River in Southeastern North Carolina by the professor of my canoeing partner Jesse Jones, who was a graduate forestry student at NC State University at the time, which lead eventually to their acquisition and preservation by The Nature Conservancy.

The Oddity Commodity Newsletter (Incorporating The Cash Price Digest) , Raleigh, NC.   500 select circulation publication of which H. Kent Craig was Editor & Publisher. Subscription prices ranged from $128@annum to $1,200@annum, depending on the level of individualized service each subscriber required.
* Did research into specific markets for commodities not normally traded in futures markets or heavily traded in cash-price spot markets, forecasted market trends in those commodities within the newsletter format.
* Became a Registered "Commodities Trading Advisor" (CTA) with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in 1984.



1976 through 1981
In The Steps magazine, Lordsburg, NM and Grand Island, FL.  25,000+ national circulation, Gene Ballenger, Editor. Titles held: began as Feature Writer and Columnist, eventually was promoted to Associate Editor.
* Primary editorial coverages included antiques, self-sufficiency topics, history, commercial mining operations, treasure hunting, and politics.
* Performed and reported product testing efforts, wrote regular columns on antique appraisals, antique restorations, and small business issues, wrote non-attributed editorial position pieces.
* 1979 ~ Yes, The Sun Will Rise , by H. Kent Craig, ppb. vol. 180 pages, El Oro Publishing Co., Lordsburg, NM. Royalty-paid authorship book was the biography of then-Editor and colleague Gene Curtis Ballenger. Had two printings of approximately 40,000 copies per.



1976
Joe's Bozart magazine, Durham, NC,   50,000 regionally-circulated arts & entertainment magazine. Held position of Antiques Editor and Raleigh City Editor.
* Wrote articles of local interest about local people, also wrote a weekly antique appraisal column, and did photography both, respectively.
* Created many free-hand and mechanical illustrations for the publication.
* Did typesetting and paste-up production duties.



1975 through 1976
The Tarheel Humanist , Raleigh, NC, "The Official Newsletter Of 'Humanists Of North Carolina' ", an official chapter of The American Humanist Association. Was appointed Editor for a one year tour of service.
* Edited, wrote the majority of unattributed content, and published TTH.
* Acted as publicity liaison to other media about HNC chapter activities.



Artistships


1978 through 1981
The Cosmic Toy Company , Raleigh, NC.  With partners Jeff Emma, a licensed architect, and silent investor Mary F. King, started a toy and graphic arts company.
* Designed and manufactured several board games and puzzles.
* Produced serigraphy ("silk-screen") instrument dial faces for antique restoration purposes.
* Wrote scripts and worked with Jeff Emma to produce the graphics for our Super Eagle comic books, an anti-hero cartoon character of Jeff's creation.



1974 through 1979
Raleigh Artists Community , Raleigh, NC.
Positions:
* 1974: Voted in, by a jury of working artists then currently on the governing Board Of Directors of "RAC", as a Member-Artist, as judged by the professional quality of work in my acrylic paintings, photographs, and sculptures.
* 1976: Elected as Member of the Board Of Directors, Willis W. Williams, President Of The Raleigh Artists' Community.
* Had many acrylic paintings, photographs, and sculptures continually on display in the RAC gallery, sold a number of them.
* Created pre-paid commission acrylic paintings, mainly in the surrealist and abstract styles.
* Did several conceptual art pieces, mainly as publicity devices for RAC events, sold signed & numbered photos of same.



1976
Lynn Kottler Gallery , New York, NY.  They sponsored a one-man show of my special-effects photographs, line drawings, and acrylic paintings.



1973
The UpStairs Gallery , Cary, NC.   Had several acrylic paintings and line drawings exhibited in a two month-long, one-man show.
