The Vestigial Heart

A fresh coat of paint on old walls
getting ready for the new season
imperfections covered but not hidden
histories mistories wearing the latest couture
crisp linens pressing a skirt for soft bed
lie atop seagrass ega’ the waves nearby
crashing without breaking
the moments of pasts confluenc’ing
a hopeful present
spyglass’d eyes towards futures bring’d
New plumbings down, old-style patterns up
new ways of thinking what unthinkables lie in
that hearts our of our heart
privy to so many things
forgot’ting how to live
when it almost died
resurrected, swimmings with the dolphins
happy and gay, mating with stars above
eternal kissings in the endless seas below
a middle ground, the balance of life
our life together, past, now, and forever
